What these signs can mean
- Cracked, warped or loose pieces can let water get behind the siding. A contractor can tell you whether a piece can be repaired or replaced.
- Soft or crumbling spots can point to moisture trouble under the surface. Do not dig at them. Photograph them and have a pro look.
- Gaps at corners, windows and doors are common places for water to find a way in.
- Stains inside the house can mean water is getting past the outside wall. Note where they are when you talk to the contractor.
